Glover, Kaiser and Myron Flash Skills at BCMML All-Star Game

The BC Major Midget Hockey League held its fifth All-Star Game at North Delta's Sungod Arena on Friday night and had plenty of South Island content.  Lanky goaltender Brandon Glover and T-Bird team captain Chase Kaiser were selected to participate on Team White, with Rob Milliken as Assistant Coach, and January's BCMML Player of the Month Wesley Myron was named to Team Blue.

The game drew a large crowd and was an entertaining affair that finished in a 5 - 5 tie.  Brandon Glover started in net for Team White and gave up just two goals in his half of the game, during which Team White built a 4 - 2 lead. 

One of those goals was perhaps the nicest individual effort of the night and came from Chase Kaiser who went wide to beat a defender, then cut across the left face-off circle and fired a wrist shot right under the cross-bar.  Kaiser also hit the bar later on another shot. 

Myron did not hit the scoresheet but looked right at home amongst the league's best talent.

Both Kaiser and Myron participated in the fastest skater skill competition between periods, ultimately won by Jamus Lane of the Vancouver Canadians.  Glover won as the top goaltender in the shootout challenge.

The game's three stars were:  (1) Malcolm McKinney (Vancouver Giants); (2) Max French (Okanagan Rockets): and (3) Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (Vancouver Giants).

There is no rest for the three T-Bird stars, nor for the rest of the squad which travelled to North Delta to take in the festivities.  The Thunderbirds were heading back to Victoria on Saturday morning to play their final two games of the regular season against the Cariboo Cougars.  The first game goes at 5:50 PM on Saturday at UVic's Ian Stewart Complex and the team's last home game is on Sunday at 9:30 AM out at the Panorama Recreation Centre.

The T-Birds need one more win to sew up 6th spot in the league standings and earn the BCMML's final playoff spot.
